The importance of money management

  • Create your bankroll from cash you can afford to lose and store it in a safe place.
  • If you prefer not to carry cash, open up the minimum line of credit that doesn't exceed 2 percent of your annual income. Respect your credit line and do not abuse it
  • Define the betting unit for the level of risk you wish to take: to determine your betting unit, divide you bankroll by 200 if you are conservative and by100 if you wish to take more risk. Gamblers with small bankrolls of $250 or less should divide them into 50 betting units.
  • Define your session bankroll and your stop loss for any session as 20 percent of your casino bankroll. Keep your session duration to two hours or less. If you double your session bankroll terminate your session, take a break and enjoy your win.
  • When you are in a winning streak at one table give back no more than 1/3 of the money you have won at this table before leaving the table.
  • A table departure is triggered to buy losing 1/3 of your session bankroll or a stop loss of 3 to 6 units.
  • Never play when you are tired
  • Never be tempted to use credit cards or cash checks if you drop your entire bankroll. Relax and enjoy the local sights.
  • Tip the dealer by controlling his or her bets with your bet, rather than making a separate bet for him or her.
  • Don't wait at a losing table for a comp. Come back for it.
  • Practice sound money control principles as defined in this site.
